eSIM stuck on “Activating” status (iPhone)

Modified on Sun, 28 Sep at 12:52 PM

After installing a Mobal eSIM on an Apple device, you may notice that the eSIM status is listed as "Activating..." or you may receive an error message such as "Activation Failure", "Connecting to network..." or "Unable to activate".

This usually occurs if you have installed the eSIM while outside of Japan (as our products do not support international roaming) and so if you have not yet arrived, the status will remain like this until you connect to the network within Japan.

As long as the eSIM is visible on your device (in the 'SIM Management' section where you a see a record of all installed eSIMs / SIM cards), there is no need to worry!

The status will change and your eSIM will become functional once you have arrived in Japan and you have connected to the local network.

If there are any connection issues upon arrival however, please ensure that your device has been configured correctly for cellular data access: Data Setup Guides
