Step 1: Getting Started
Once you have received / collected your physical Voice+Data SIM Card or your eSIM Access Code, you can submit an activation request directly from your Mobal online account (MyAccount): www.mobal.com/myaccount
Login details will be sent to you via email (shortly after placing your order) or you can request a password reset link from the login screen.
Once you have logged in to your account, simply visit the "Services" section and click on the "Activate" button found next to the relevant product -

Step 2: Enter Product Details
You will then be asked to enter the details of your Mobal SIM / eSIM to begin the activation process -
Physical SIMs:

If you have purchased a physical Voice+Data SIM Card, you will only be asked to enter the SIM card serial number.
The SIM serial number will be written directly on the SIM card itself and also on the paperwork you received with the SIM card.
eSIMs:

If you have purchased a digital Voice+Data eSIM, you will be asked for your "eSIM Access Code" and the "EID" number of the device you wish to install the eSIM on.
You will receive the "eSIM Access Code" in the mail or from your chosen collection point (it's an 8-character code containing both letters and numbers).
The "EID" is a unique 32-digit number that identifies the eSIM chip on the device you wish to use and on most handsets, you can locate the EID by dialing: *#06#
Alternatively, you may be able to locate the EID by going to Settings > General > About > EID (on most iPhone handsets) or by going to Settings > About Phone > Status Information > EID (on most Android handsets).
*For our eSIM products, your handset must be an actual eSIM compatible device with built-in eSIM functionality. Our eSIMs are not compatible with products such as "esim.me" that allow you to install eSIMs on devices that were not originally eSIM compatible.
Step 3: Transferring a Phone Number?
If you already have a Japanese phone number from another service provider and you would like to transfer it to a Mobal SIM / eSIM, please also select the “Yes, I want to keep my existing phone number” option.
You can then enter your current Japanese phone number, the MNP reservation code / MNP code expiry date (which you will be required to retrieve from your current service provider), your name and your date of birth.
If you do not have a phone number that you wish to transfer however, simply select the “No, I want to receive a new phone number” option instead.
*It will only be possible to transfer a phone number if you have purchased a Voice+Data SIM / eSIM and you intend to select a long term plan.
Step 4: Choose an Activation Date / Plan
If you request immediate activation, we will process your request as soon as possible but please be advised that in some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for your activation request to be processed.
If you select a future activation date however, we will begin the activation process in advance (usually 1-2 days prior to the selected activation date) to ensure the service is active / ready for use on the requested date.
You will also be asked to choose a specific long term plan or a short term 30 day plan. For additional information, please refer to the relevant sections below -
SIM/eSIM Long Term Plans

Choose an ongoing plan with a high speed data allowance that suits your needs (such as the 1GB, 5GB, 10GB or 30GB option). The high speed data allowance will reset each calendar month on the 1st of the month.
If one of our long term plans is selected, your service will remain active until you manually submit a cancellation request directly from your Mobal online account (MyAccount).
SIM/eSIM Short Term Plans
Our short term 30 day plan includes a 7GB high speed data allowance each calendar month.
If your 30 day plan is activated half way through a calendar month for example, your data allowance will reset and you will be assigned a new 7GB allowance on the 1st of the following month.
If a short term plan is selected, your service will be terminated automatically once the plan has ended (unless you submit a request to manually extend the plan / switch to an ongoing plan from your online account).
Step 5: Payment
The billing procedure will vary depending on the specific plan that you select. For additional information, please refer to the relevant section below -
Long Term Plans
If you select an activation date that falls part way through a calendar month, the first plan fee will be pro-rated (for service between the selected activation date and the end of that calendar month).
All plan fees after the initial fee will be billed in full (on the 1st of each month) and plan fees will continue in this way until you manually terminate the service.
If your plan is terminated part way through a calendar month however, please be advised that the full plan fee for that month will still apply (i.e. the final plan fee will not be pro-rated).
Short Term Plans
You will be billed for the entire short term plan (minus any usage charges) as an upfront fee when going through the activation process.
Your plan will then automatically disconnect at the end of the short term plan you have selected and so you will not incur any additional plan fees (unless you manually extend the plan or switch to a long term plan).
Usage Fees (SIMs / eSIMs)

The usage reports for your outbound calls / outbound texts will be passed on to us with a delay (of approximately 1-2 months).
This means that you will be charged for your usage approximately 1-2 months after the usage actually took place.
Instructions on how to check the usage rates can be found here: Usage Rates Guide
Step 6: Confirmation
After you have completed these steps, you can submit your activation request for processing.
Once your Mobal plan has been activated for the requested date, you will receive a confirmation email which will also contain the Mobal phone number that you have been assigned.
Please note that a phone number will only be assigned to your SIM/eSIM at the point of activation (and so we are unable to provide you with the phone number in advance).
