Step 1: Getting Started
Once you have received / collected your physical Voice Lite SIM Card or your eSIM Access Code, you can submit an activation request directly from your Mobal online account (MyAccount): www.mobal.com/myaccount
Login details will be sent to you via email (shortly after placing your order) or you can request a password reset link from the login screen.
Once you have logged in to your account, simply visit the "Services" section and click on the "Activate" button found next to the relevant product -

Step 2: Enter Product Details
You will then be asked to enter the details of your Mobal SIM / eSIM to begin the activation process -
Physical SIMs:

If you have purchased a physical Voice Lite SIM Card, you will only be asked to enter the SIM card serial number.
The SIM Card Serial Number will be written directly on the SIM card itself and also on the paperwork you received with the SIM card.
eSIMs:

If you have purchased a digital Voice Lite eSIM, you will be only be asked to enter your "eSIM Access Code".
You will receive the "eSIM Access Code" in the mail or from your chosen collection point (it's an 8-character code containing both letters and numbers).
*For our eSIM products, your handset must be an actual eSIM compatible device with built-in eSIM functionality. Our eSIMs are not compatible with products such as "esim.me" that allow you to install eSIMs on devices that were not originally eSIM compatible.
Step 3: Can I transfer a Phone Number?
If you have purchased a Voice Lite SIM or eSIM, it will not be possible to transfer an existing Japanese phone number to your Mobal SIM / eSIM.
Your Voice Lite SIM / eSIM will be assigned a new Japanese phone number once the plan has been fully activated.
Once you have manually terminated your Voice Lite plan, the phone number will be lost and it will not be possible to transfer the phone number to another service provider.
Step 4: Choose an Activation Date / Plan
If you request immediate activation, we will process your request as soon as possible but please be advised that in some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for your activation request to be processed.
If you select a future activation date however, we will begin the activation process in advance (usually 1-2 days prior to the selected activation date) to ensure the service is active / ready for use on the requested date.
With regards to the plan, we only offer a single ongoing plan for our Voice Lite product (and so you will not be asked to choose a specific plan).
Step 5: Payment
If you select an activation date that falls part way through a calendar month, the first plan fee will be pro-rated (for service between the selected activation date and the end of that calendar month).
All plan fees after the initial fee will be billed in full (on the 1st of each month) and plan fees will continue in this way until you manually terminate the service.
If your plan is terminated part way through a calendar month however, please be advised that the full plan fee for that month will still apply (i.e. the final plan fee will not be pro-rated).
The usage reports for your outbound calls / outbound texts will be passed on to us with a delay (of approximately 1-2 months) and so your usage fees will be billed approximately 1-2 months after the usage actually took place.
Instructions on how to check the usage rates can be found here: Usage Rates Guide
Step 6: Confirmation
After you have completed these steps, you can submit your activation request for processing.
Once your Mobal plan has been activated for the requested date, you will receive a confirmation email which will also contain the Mobal phone number that you have been assigned.
Please note that a phone number will only be assigned to your SIM/eSIM at the point of activation (and so we are unable to provide you with the phone number in advance).
