Installation Guide (Physical SIM Cards)

Installation:

If you have purchased a physical Mobal SIM card, you will receive a multi-cut SIM that can be turned into a Standard, Micro or Nano size SIM (depending on what’s required for your device).

For devices that require a Nano SIM card (the smallest of the three sizes) for example, simply push out the center of the SIM card to change it to the correct size.

As long as your device has space for a physical SIM card, your Mobal SIM can be converted to the correct size and so there is no need to worry!

The method for installing a SIM card can vary (depending on the specific cell phone you are using) and so if you are not sure how to insert the SIM card, please refer to the user guide for your device.

Dual-SIM Devices:

If you are using a handset that has two SIM card slots, we would recommend that you install our SIM card in slot 1 (as this will be configured as the primary SIM card slot and it may support more frequencies than slot 2).

If a secondary SIM / eSIM (from another provider) is installed in your device, we would also recommend that you check the ‘SIM Management’ menu on your device (the section that shows all SIMs / eSIMs that are installed and the preferred SIM / eSIM for each service) to ensure our SIM is selected as the primary SIM for the required services.

SIM Issues:

If your device displays an error message such as “Insert SIM”, “No SIM” or “SIM Error” for example, your SIM card may not be installed correctly.

Please switch your phone off and then remove / re-insert the SIM card to ensure it is inserted correctly (as per the instructions for your device) and then switch the phone on again to retest the connection.

If the issue persists, we would recommend that you try installing your Mobal SIM card in another device (if you have access to one) or that you try installing a different SIM card (in the same SIM slot on your device) to check if you receive the same error.

This will then help to confirm if there is an issue with your device / the SIM card slot or an issue with the Mobal SIM card you have received.

If your Mobal SIM card is installed correctly but you are outside of a network coverage area / in a location with a poor signal (or you are outside of Japan) however, it would be normal to see a message such as “No service”, “Emergency Calls Only”  or “No Network Coverage”.
